who am I?
I am a web and graphic designer who started out many years ago with a self-taught background in basic html. Since then, the skills I have picked up during my education and career have aided me in becoming a web designer that strives to conceptualize and build a project that a client can enjoy and identify with.
My aim is to offer and provide effective websites fit specifically to a client's needs, whether it be a basic html design or a more complex hybrid website. With the many languages and programs I have been taught, I can create visually-pleasing, functional websites for those in search of something professional, eye-catching and original.
I can also help develop or revamp logotypes/identities for use on a website, as well as any print material a client may use (business cards, letterheads, envelopes, etc).
education
I am a graduate of the Digital and Interactive Media Design program at NAIT. The DIMD program consists of two years of study: a first year of general studies and a second that allows students the opportunity to branch off into 1 to 2 specific specializations. My specializations were web design & development and graphic design. I was also awarded Dean's Honours for both of my years at NAIT.
Alongside learning all the coding and tricks for my chosen specialization, I also got to dabble with other mediums, one of which was flash design and development. This opportunity allowed me to learn how to use it in coexistance with html and css to create hybrid websites that offer a little something more to your basic webpage, such as dynamic graphics.
The second year also consists of a 16-week co-op work term. I worked at a small web design firm, where I had many opportunities to create websites for real clients. It was an invaluable placement that allowed me to garner experience not only with dealing with clients directly, but also working with my co-workers as a team.
